aboutmyart2

I got my Painting degree with the highest honors from the Academy of Fine Arts in Watermael-Boitsfort under the tutelage of Christos Vouyiouklis and Magda Ulrych. I have been painting and drawing for twenty years at academies all over the world, in the United States, Spain, Israel, Germany and Belgium.
Common themes in my work are exile and refuge, subjects that cannot be avoided as the daughter of Cuban political refugees. It is my desire to heal the wounds inflicted on my family and people by politics. I believe the emotional and intellectual impact of art has the ability elicit compassion and understanding between people with conflicting visions of the past and future.
Recent work is more formally concerned with the process itself rather than a willed message. But it still reflects struggle and a search for stability and beauty in an unpredictable world.
